One of the most highly anticipated longboarding events each year — the Broadway Bomb — has taken place successfully despite the judicial ruling declared due to the absence of the necessary permits the city requires. Although the concern of having thousands of skaters flood down one of the main throughways is legitimate it is hard to break an annual tradition. The event went down peacefully, with excited faces skating down the familiar 8.5 mile route from W116th Street down to the Charging Bull statue in the financial district. Skaters expected a big police turn-out especially at the start of the race, so many started a few blocks further South. For an in-depth article head over to the New York Times.
